The contract between the Hypo Group in BiH and CEB assumes that the Council of Europe Development Bank is to assure the credit line of € 50 million for credit financing of micro-, small and medium enterprises through the Hypo Group in BiH making 50% of funds for this purpose, whereas the members of the Hypo Group in BiH, pursuant to the contract, are going to assure additional € 50 million or the remaining 50% of funds for financing the enterprises within this project.
In short, CEB and Hypo Group in BiH assured € 100 million for improving the business activities of private micro-, small and medium enterprises in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Mr. Thomas Tomsich, executive director of the Hypo Alpe-Adria-Bank d.d. Mostar and project subject for the cooperation with CEB on behalf of the Hypo Group in BiH says: "Micro-, small and medium enterprises under private ownership are the healthiest and most progressive segment of BiH economy and I hope that this aspect of credit support will help them even more with their further development and progress."
Private micro-, small and medium enterprises can compete for the loan funds from this project which have 250 employees; and the funds are purposed for capital investments into, for example, production and administration buildings, for purchase of machines and introduction of new technologies.
Director of the Hypo Bank in the Federation, Mr. Petar Jurčić, explains: "Annual turnover of companies which are the competitors for the loans per this project must amount up to € 50 million per year, whereas their assets can range up to € 43 million. The owner of the company; if it is not micro-, small or medium enterprise; cannot have more than 25% ownership over the entity which is the loan applicant. The loan funds will be placed in instalments, and the project will be used by the end of 2009. Interest rates will depend on the EURIBOR movements and they will be formed depending on the projects' quality offered for being financed but they will be definitely below currently valid interest rates at the BiH financial market".
The funds from this credit line of the Council of Europe Development Bank are allocated to three members of the Hypo Group in BiH in the following way: € 20 million for projects which will be financed through the Hypo Alpe-Adria-Bank d.d. Mostar and Hypo Alpe-Adria-Bank a.d. Banja Luka for each of them, and € 10 million for projects which will be financed through the Hypo Alpe-Adria-Leasing d.o.o. Sarajevo.
Mr. Dragan Vrankić, finance and treasury minister of Bosnia and Herzegovina, pointed out that the Council of Europe Development Bank had a significant role in the countries of the region, and especially in the countries that are under transition, i. e. in process of adjustment until the final admission into the European Union.
One of such countries is also Bosnia and Herzegovina, and it is so especially after signing the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA).
With its programme and activities, the CEB has been supporting and it still supports BiH in the following fields: social welfare sector, infrastructure renewal, creating and keeping the jobs, environmental protection, health care...
"Membership of BiH within the Council of Europe Development Bank gives the possibility for implementing the financing activities of the projects and operations, which are not related to the credit indebtedness of the state, and they will improve the competitiveness of national economy and entire macro-economic picture of BiH, as it is the case with signing the today's contract between CEB and Hypo Group BiH, which will be further on reflected in its activities of credit financing for the development of small and medium enterprises", it was stated by the finance minister - Mr. Vrankić.

Hypo Group Alpe Adria: Successful first half of 2007
Operating result of EUR 97 million for first half year - balance sheet total in-creased to around EUR 38 billion. Dr. Tilo Berlin: "We have to secure the level we have attained and prepare for the next growth phase."
Hypo Group Alpe Adria can look back on a successful first half of 2007, with banking and leasing activities in all 12 countries and with a staff of over 6,500. The financial group has succeeded in further increasing the principal key figures, with the operating result up on last year and within budget. During this half year, with the agreement of the majority shareholder Bayerische Landesbank, the course has been decisively set for a promising future for the Bank and its position in the competition.
"Following the period of strong growth in the past, Hypo Group Alpe Adria is now entering the next phase in which we have to secure what we have achieved and prepare for the next growth phase. The annual result for 2007 will nevertheless be characterised by structural adjustments and an amended risk policy. Together with our new partner, Bayern LB, we look forward to the future with confidence," says Dr. Tilo Berlin, Chairman of the Executive Board of Hypo Group Alpe Adria.
Presentation of the principal financial figures
Note for editorial staff:
Per 30.6.2007, the figures are for the first time based on International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS); thus a direct comparison with the previous consolidated figures based on UGB/BWG is not possible.
Per 30 June 2007 the international finance group achieved a balance sheet total of around EUR 38 billion. The growth was largely due to the volume of customer business and to refi-nancing measures in connection with the expiry of the Federal state guarantees. A total vol-ume of around EUR 5 billion has been placed on the capital market.
In the first six months of 2007 Hypo Group Alpe Adria achieved an operating result (after provision for risks) of EUR 97 million, determined largely by the positive development of the net interest result of EUR 304 million and the commission result of EUR 57 million. In addi-tion to the one-off proceeds from the sale of the Consultants Group at the end of June, in the amount of EUR 57 million, there is a surplus for the period of EUR 155 million before tax. Thus the consolidated surplus for the period after taxes and minority interests is EUR 119 million.
The company's success is also reflected in the key earnings figures. After adjustment for the positive one-off effects from the sale of the Consultants Group, the Return on Equity (ROE) before taxes was 18.10 % and the Return on Assets (ROA) before taxes was 0.57 %. The Cost/Income-Ratio was at the very satisfactory level of 56.1 %.
Forecast for the second half of 2007
Hypo Group Alpe Adria will consistently pursue its growth course in its core markets. Thus in addition to the further strengthening of the existing sales networks, market entry into the Ukraine is planned for the leasing group for the second half of the year. The management of Hypo Group Alpe Adria expects positive operational development for the Group for the year as a whole.

Hypo Group Alpe Adria - Information
Beginning from today, 4 September 2006, all companies of the Hypo Group in all eleven countries are going to act under the new corporate umbrella name - "Hypo Group Alpe Adria".
Out of a small county bank, the Hypo Group has grown into a highly credible European international financial group, employing more than 5,000 persons and servicing 750,000 clients at 250 locations in eleven countries of the Alps-Adriatic region. It was exactly this enormous growth of the Group and its powerful development in the Alps-Adriatic region in the previous years, which brought to a decisive decision on a new visual identity, which is to present the overall dynamics and international dimension of the Group, as well as it hugeness and feeling for regional unity and a powerful and impressive professional external appearance under a common name and a common sign.
Considering the flexibility, by which the Group presented its products and services and tailored them to the local markets needs in as many as eleven European countries and considering the pace, by which it has been simultaneously growing and developing itself, the importance and the influence of the Group has over time outgrown the static use of the old square-shaped blue-white logo.
Besides the umbrella logo, the designers of the Group's new visual identity have also envisaged the special characteristics of names of individual Group-members to be emphasized. The bank in Bosnia and Herzegovina has in this manner strongly strengthened its regional identity within the Alps-Adriatic region. The joint Hypo Group is active at the international financial market in a unique manner and the clients may identify themselves with well-known financial products, specifically designed banking services and Euro-regional business colours, which are remarkable as a part of a powerful financial system, well-known and considered domestic by us through Hypo Bank, Hypo Leasing, Hypo Vrjednosnice, Hypo Invest and Hypo Consultants, active in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
"The dynamic, active and progressive Hypo Group has opened new development possibilities to all those, who incorporate its power. Our bank is a functional member of the team and its name stands as a guarantee of building the European future to our clients in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The guarantee is visible in the sign, which pays respect to the specific characteristics of the Alps and the Adriatic. In its upper part, the sign unites the silver-grey Alps peaks with the blue depths of the Adriatic sea in its bottom part. A good logo is life and essence of each successful company." - said on behalf of the Hypo Group in BiH, Kurt Makula, the President of the Steering Committee of Hypo Alpe-Adria-Bank.
